ABOUT US

We live on a working croft overlooking Loch Cromore in the Isle of Lewis on the stunning north-west coast of Scotland. In addition to a small flock of sheep – managed by our sheep dog Billy, we are diversifying our croft into providing a more sustainable way of life.  We grow our own fruit and vegetables in our new polycrub, and plan to introduce a few hens to provide us with fresh organic eggs – although we are still very much novices at this!!

We were both born in the main town of Stornoway, and have lived on the island all our lives. It was only when we married that we began our adventure into the country life!  Murdo’s family lived on the croft for generations, but as the old house had been vacant for a number of years, it needed extensive renovation.

The house sits in a fantastic spot, with beautiful unspoilt views over Loch Cromore to our neighbouring village Marvig.  So, we decided we wanted to make it our home.  With the help of a friend in the building trade, Murdo set about building our new house and two years later we finally moved in.

We’ve never regretted it – being 30 miles from the main town has it’s advantages!  Murdo is now retired from his work in recycling, and I used to work from home, but have embraced early retirement with a passion, and love the freedom and time to enjoy our surroundings.

We now want to share this beautiful place with you.
